Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain hypotensive substances from the green sap in high purity with ease, by removing impurities from the aqueous solution of water-soluble part of the sap from the green leaves of true grasses.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of soluble parts obtained from the green sap constituents of true grasses is mixed with a solvent, e.g. 60W80vol% ethanol based on the volume of the solution, or the solution is heated to about 70W100°C to form an insoluble solid content, which is removed to collect a hypotensive agent. The solution is obtained by removing coarse solids from mechanically crushed leaves, e.g. stems and leaves, of true grasses and by removing finely divided suspended solids with centrifugation from the green sap constituents.
