Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the screen, by forming a secondary latent image by blowing air which is heated as being introduced into a planar heating element provided by notching the modulating part along the circumferential surface of a photoreceptor, to the part being modulated through a screen-shaped photoreceptor from the vicinity of a corona discharge means. CONSTITUTION:A screen 1 consisting of three layers, which are conductive member, photoconductive layer and surface insulating layer, is constructed in a drum shape, and is designed to rotate counterclockwise around a shaft 2. Primary and secondary voltages are applied by corona dischargers 3, 4, respectively, and the potential of the primary electrostatic latent image is raised abruptly by a lamp 6 for full radiation. When corona ions are applied to an insulated drum 8 in the lower part from a corona discharger 7 for modulation through the screen 1, a secondary latent image is formed on the drum 8. The air from an opening 2a in the shaft 2 is heated by a planar heating element 11, and the majority thereof is directed to the drum 8 through the screen 1 to activate the discharge of the discharger 7, thereby forming a secondary image of high potential.
