Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a type selecting mechanism having small size and low power consumption with exact operation by providing integrally an electromagnetic yoke, an electromagnetic winding and a selecting pawl, and also providing a magnetic disk on the same shaft as the shaft of the mechanism for a type wheel.
CONSTITUTION: When a pulsating current is flown through a winding 8 by the rotary synchronous signal of a type wheel shaft 4 rotating in a direction as designated by an arrow A, an electromagnetic yoke 7 attracts a magnetic disk 9 to rotate it by the rotary force thereof in a direction as designated by an arrow C. Accordingly, a selecting pawl 5 integral with the yoke 7 is rotated against the elasticity of conductive members 10 and 11. When the pawl 5 is rotated, a type wheel pawl 3 is released from its engagement and engaged with the shaft 4, and the type wheel 1 is rotated together with the shaft 4. When the rotating angle of the shaft 4 is predetermined at this selecting step and the winding 8 is selectively energized by the synchronous signal, a desired type can be aligned on the pressing surface of type position and accordingly a platen 14. After aligning the type, the platen 14 is moved in a direction as designated by an arrow E, and typed on a printing paper 15.
