Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title hollow fibers having a uniform membrane thickness, and improved selective permeability, chemical resistance and stability, and tensile strength, by introducing an inorganic acid solution into the hollow part of a polymer solution in an inorganic acid extruded from an annular slit, and by coagulating the filamentary material in a bath via a space.
CONSTITUTION: An acrylonitrile polymer is dissolved in a solution of an inorganic acid, e.g. nitric acid, and the nesulting solution is fed from the tank 2 to the inlet 24 of the hollow spinneret 10 via the gear pump 4. A core liquid containing 30wt% or more of an inorganic acid, e.g. nitric acid, is fed from the gear pump 6 into the hollow-forming capillary 22 of the spinneret 10, and the solution 26 is then passed through a space ≥5cm and coagulated in the bath 12 to give the desired hollow fibers.
USE: Ultrafiltration membranes for industrial waste liquors, blood dialysis and filtration.
