Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the construction of automatic gap-adjusting device by forming front and back chambers by piston and cylinder equipped with rod linking to both shoes and providing check-valve mechanism in the passing way provided in piston.
CONSTITUTION: Piston 16 equipped with piston rod 19 linking through fixed free gap to one shoe is pulled on lining abrasion, while cylinder 15 linking to the other shoe moves in the opposite direction. The fluid inside front chamber 17 of piston is pressurized and flows through check-valve mechanism 22 provided in piston into back chamber 18 of piston under negative pressure. At the time of removal of braking the return of both shoes lessens by the volume of fluid which has flown and the braking gap is adjusted automatically.
