Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the blooming as well as to secure a high contrast for the entire bright/dark part by providing the transmission light volume variable filter consisting of the liquid crystal prossessing the matrix-type electrode and in opposition to the pickup element and then giving the light volume control only to the excessive incident ray part.
CONSTITUTION: Plural pieces of belt-type transparent electrodes are stuck onto two sheets of transparent glass plates. These glass plates hold the liquid crystal between at both faces of the liquid crystal and orthogonally, thus forming the liquid crystal cell which is then used as transmission light volume variable filter 3. The beams of subject 1 receive the photoelectric conversion by pickup element 4 and through pickup lens 2 and filter 3. This light reception signal is sent to output terminal 7 via preamplifier 5 and process amplifier 6 in the form of the video signal as well as to clamping circuit 11. This signal, after detection given only to the excessive incident rays via the clipping circuit, is supplied to position detector circuits 91∼98 plus driving circuit 10 via buffer circuit 13. The electrode voltage only at the excessive incident ray region of filter 3 is controlled by circuits 9 and 10, and thus the liquid crystal transmission volume is controlled.
