Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a rough figure for the amount of snow-fall even under bad weather conditions, by separating the supersonic wave reflected from the surface of snow into a reflection component and a noise component and then operating computation.
CONSTITUTION: The supersonic wave radiated from horn 7 is reflected by snow surface 12. The reflected wave is subjected to signal conversion by horn 7 and then it is fed to wave receiver circuit 8. It is separated into a reflection component and a noise component. These components are output to 9 and 10, in which they are subjected to waveform shaping. The signal due to the reflected component is calculated by 11, and the result is output as the information on the snow-fall.
