Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the temper brittleness resistance and hydrogen brittleness resistance of a low alloy steel by adding a specified amt. or more of sol. metallic Al to the steel.
CONSTITUTION: To a steel contg. C 0.05W0.40%, Si 0.02W0.60%, Mn 0.02W 2.00%, Mo 0.02W3.00%, Cr 0.02W5.00% and Ni 0.02W10.00% as basic components is added sol. metallic Al≥0.150% other than an amt. of Al to be consumed as AlN by N in the steel. Si+Mn≤0.20% may be contained in place of the above-mentioned Si and Mn, and other special elements added as required and inevitable impurities are also contained in the steel.
