Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare methyl ethyl ketone useful as a solvent, easily and economically, by the continuous vapor phase catalytic oxidation of n-butene in the presence of on Mo-Sn-O catalyst, wherein oxygen is introduced into the reactor through two or more inlets thereby preventing the deficiency or non-uniform distribution of oxygen in the reactor.
CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of methyl ethyl ketone by vapor phase catalytic oxidation of n-butene with gas containing O2 and steam in the presence of a catalyst consisting essentially of Mo, Sn and O, 0.4W2mol, on the basis of 1mol of n- butene, of O2 is introduced into the reactor through two or more, preferably 2W5 inlets. As O2 is introduced uniformly, without deficiency, the conversion can be improved without remarkable lowering of the selectivity. The reaction is carried out at 150W230°C near the atmospheric pressure.
