Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a long-life low-cost title fluorescent material having high light-emitting efficiency and useful as an electric field fluorescent material with low operating voltage, by forming a double-laher structure of a low-resistant metal sulfide layer and a layer containing light-emitting impurities, at the grain boundaries of a zinc sulfide-based ceramic.
CONSTITUTION: A layer of a low-resistant metal sulfide layer 3, such as a copper sulfide layer, (pref. containing 0.02W2wt% of the sulfide, reduced to Cu2S) is precipitated at the grain boundaries 4 of a zinc sulfide-based ceramic. A zinc sulfide-based ceramic containing light-emitting impurities is sintered on the above grain boundaries, by baking the composition pref. in a reducing atomsphere or a sulfurizing atmosphere.
