Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a hammer for water base-rock concreteness examination which can be used at any depth of water maintaining its original functions, by installing the hammer body in housing for watertightness and by keeping the balance between the inside air pressure and outside water pressure.
CONSTITUTION: Hammer 5 with air hole 1 is installed in housing 6, watertightness is maintained by a sealing member, and air-pressure control chamber 7 is provided in housing 6. Now, when outside water pressure increases above inside pressure, gas is supplied from gas cylinder 8 into the housing via automatic differential pressure detecting suction valve 9. On the other hand, when the water pressure is lower, automatic pressure-adjusting exhaust valve 10 operates to discharge to gas to keep all the time the balance between the inside air pressure of the hammer and outside water pressure. As a result, an error of a measured value due to variation in spring constant caused by water pressure can be eliminated and original functions of the hammer can be displayed at any depth of water.
