Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance whiteness of a white ground on a printed photographic paper without impairing photographic characteristics, by adding oil-soluble dyes in the silver halide photographic paper to give a specified color. CONSTITUTION:Proper oil-soluble dyes are added to a photographic layer on a support to raise the color of the white ground on a photographic paper printed to W=86 or more, U=-1-1, V=-3-1 (according to the article color exhibition method in the UVW system). As the above dyes, for example, oil-soluble dyes PTR-71 (red), PTB-76 (blue), PTV-56 (purple), etc. made by MITSUBISHI KASEI KK, are used in an amount of about 0.05-5mg per m<2> of photographic paper.
