Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a filter medium rapidly and continuously without the falling-off of hair by a method wherein a loop-like, projecting fiber group is knitted and planted on a base cloth surface and the looped portions are cut by means of a heating piece for cutting the looped portion.
CONSTITUTION: A heating piece 16 for cutting is beforehand heated, a motor 8 is driven, and a filer medium 1 is wound on a winding roller 6 from a roll-in rollr 4 at speed giving heating time and cutting force necessary for cutting a loop-like projecting fiber group 2. The loop-like projecting fibers 2 are cut down in the direction opposite to the feed direction D of the filter medium 1 by means of the heating piece 16 for cutting entering into the loop-like projecting fiber group 2, and pressure-contacted with the heating piece 16. Consequently, the fibers are instantaneously heated and melted or their strength lowers, and the fibers are provided with cutting force by the movement of the heating piece 16. Thus, the loop-like portions of the filter medium 1 through which the heating piece 16 for cutting passes are cut and opened in the same length.
