Abstract
PURPOSE: To vary a steering force as necessary by a system wherein a throttling opening of a control valve within a drain passage connected with an oil feed passage to a control valve may be reduced at least in responding to the grip force applied to the rim of a handle by a driver.
CONSTITUTION: On turning a handle 3, a torsion bar type integral type power steering allows to twist the torsion bar 4, which causes the pump oil pressure corresponding to the twist angle thereof is applying to the side chamber 6a or 6b, whereby a piston 5 produces the force in a direction to aid the steering so as to turn a sector gear. Thereupon, an inlet port 8 is communicating with a port 12 of an orifice unit 9, and a port 12 is communicating with a drain port 14 through a variable orifice 13. Then, the opening of the variable orifice 13 is regulated by varying electric power to be applied on the solenoid 21 corresponding to the output of the speed sensor 23 and the grip sensor 24 sensing a driver's grip applied to the handle rim.
