CONSTITUTION:An inorganic hydrate capable of generating steam by heating is mixed with a material for a foamed body and, by molding under heating, steam is generated from the said inorganic hydrate in a foam-like condition to produce a foamed body of a foamable material. As an inorganic hydrate capable of generating steam by heating, calcium aluminate monosulfate hydrate shown by a formula 3 CaO.Al2O3.CaSO4.nH2O (n is 1-2), calcium aluminate sulfate hydrate shown by a formula 3CaO.Al2O3.3CaSO4.nH2O (n is 31-32) or the like are mentioned. As a material for a foamed body, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride or the like are mentioned.
