Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce sensitivity deterioration and stain occurrence, by adding a specified development inhibitor releasing type compound. CONSTITUTION:To a silver halide photographic material is added a compound or its tautomer of formula I ( A is H or a group hydrolyzable in alkali; B is a group forming an arylmercapto, heterocyclic mercapto, or triazole type compound having development inhibiting action, released upon coupling reaction with the oxidized product of color developing agent; X is O, S, or Se; and Z is an atomic group needed to form a ring), especially of formula II (Q is an atomic group needed to form an optionally substituted aromatic, preferably benzene ring). This compound is high in reactivity with the oxidized product of color developing agent, and nevertheless, superior in storage stability even in high temperature and high humidity.
