Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the coincidence retrieval time of data as to a system which retrieves coincidence between data contents of two data groups, by finding a ratio between the numbers of pieces of data of two data groups and then by comparing it with a criterion.
CONSTITUTION: To input terminals 63 and 66, data on the numbers of pieces of data of two data groups are supplied, smaller data and larger data are outputted from terminals 49 and 50 of comparator 42, and divider circuit 43 obtains a ratio between the numbers of pieces of data. Comparator 44 compares it with cirterion Z1 and Z2 and according to the results, one of output terminals 52 to 54 is turned ON to select a searching method with the shortest serach time among sequential seraching method realization unit 45, skip searching method realization unit 46, and skip halving searching method realizatin method 47. Units 45 to 47 search data with coincident contents from the data group inputted to terminals 61 and 64 and outputs the number of pieces of coincident data and data to terminals 55 and 56 respectively.
