Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the captioned display device which is free from peeling of upper electrodes, is of high reliability and is constant in contrast by providing transparent insulation film on the portions other than the pattern parts of the trasparent conductive film thereby avoiding the direct contact of the transparent conductive film and dielectric film.
CONSTITUTION: Pattern parts 12 and lead parts 13 of transparent conductive film are formed on a transparent substrate 11. Next, a transparent insulation film 14 is so formed thereon as form the negative shapes with the above-mentioned parttern parts 12 (namely, the openings of the film 14 become the pattern display faces). Thence, an electrochromic (EC) material layer 15 is formed and further a dielectric film 16 and upper electrode 17 are laminated thereon to provide the fully solid type EC display device.
