Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain photographic polyethylene-covered paper of high rigidity by heat treating a paper web made from pulp fiber blended with specified polyvinyl alcohol fiber and covering the heat treated web with polyethylene. CONSTITUTION:About 0.5-2 denier thick and about 1-6mm long polyvinyl alcohol fiber not subjected to heat treatment and modification into acetal is used. Pulp fiber is blended with 5% by oven-dry wt. or more, preferably 8-15% of the polyvinyl alcohol fiber, and the blend is made into paper to form a paper web. This web is then heat treated at about 50 deg.C or above, preferably the m.p. of the polyvinyl alcohol fiber or above at which most of the fiber form is held, and about 35-80% of low density polyethylene resin is covered onto a web side opposite to a face to be coated with an emulsion.
