Abstract

PURPOSE: An acrylic resin having improved solvent resistance, obtained by specifying heat distortion temperature, intrinsic viscosity, and a moleculor weight distribution in specified ranges.
CONSTITUTION: An acrylic resin, comprising A) a copolymer consisting of a) methyl methacrylate and b) an alkyl methacrylate obtained from b1) an alkyl alcohol having ≥2C and b2) methacrylic acid, or B) a terpolymer consisting of a) methyl methacrylate, b) an alkyl methacrylate, and c) an alkyl acrylate, has a heat distortion temperature measured by ASTMD-648 70W80°C, an intrinsic viscosity measured by using chloroform at 25°C 0.028W0.117l/g, and a ratio [Mw/Mn] of weight average molecular weight (Mw) to number average molecular weight (Mn) measured by gel permeation chromatography 2.3W6.0.
