Abstract
PURPOSE: To assure the follow-up property for the curvature of the curved surface of a test piece and improve the state of contact, by combining universal joints with springs on a monitor mounting part to attach a monitor.
CONSTITUTION: A thrusting shaft end plate 3 for supporting a monitor contact part is provided on the end of a thrusting shaft 1. A plurality of shafts 9 are provided so that they extend through the plate 3. The ends of the shafts 9 are so connected to those of free stroke bearings 6 installed on the holder 7 of an ultrasonic monitor 8 that universal joints 4 are formed. The shafts 9 and the universal joints 4 are fitted with springs 5. When flaw detection is effected in the direction of an arrow, the thrusting shaft 1 expands. The shaft 1 is provided with a mechanism to apply a constant force to absorb the curvature of a test piece by the universal joints 4 and the springs 5. As a result, the flaw detection can be performed as the thrusting force is constant and a good state of contact is maintained.
