Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a highly crystalline α-olefin polymer by polymerizing an α-olefin in the presence of a highly active and heat-stable catalsyt comprising a specific solid product and an organo-aluminum compound.
CONSTITUTION: An α-olefin is polymerized at 20W200°C, for 5 minutes to 10 hours, under a pressure of 0W50 kg/cm2G, in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) 100 grams of a solid product obtained by reacting (A1) a solid product prepared by reacting (a) a solid product composed mainly of TiCl3 prepared by adding 0.1W5 moles of an organo-aluminum compound slowly to 1 mole of TiCl4 in the presence of a solvent, and reducing the TiCl4 at - 100W+200°C for 0.5W5 hours, (b) an electron donor such as an alcohol, formic acid, etc., and (c) an electron acceptor such as SiCl4, TiCl4, etc., with (A2) 1W1000 grams of a polysiloxane of formula (R1,2 are substitution groups; n is an integer) at - 10W+500°C for 5 minutes to 5 hours, and (B) 50W5000 grams of an organo-aluminum compound.
