Abstract
PURPOSE: A new bacterium mold, Pseudomonas sp YK 2031, is cultured using methanol as the carbon source to produce the cells.
CONSTITUTION: A new bacterium, Pseudomonus sp YK 2031 belonging to marine bacteria, is cultured in a medium of aqueous solution containing methanol as the carbon source that is kept to low concentration at the beginning then raised usually to 0.01W50%, further ammonia as the nitrogen source, 0.5W12% of sodium chloride, calculated as sodium ion, inorganic salts and organic nutritions as vitamin B12. The optimum temperature is 20W45°C, the pH is 4W9. The cultured medium is filtered and the cells are collected, rinsed and dried to the dried cells. The propagation of the mold is rapid and the cells are of high protein content, thus having high value as microbial protein.
