Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform continuous plating on one-side of a steel strip by a method wherein electromagnetic coils are installed in a molten metal plating tank to allow energized coils to generate magnetic force to raise molten metal, which is made to contact one-side of steel strip which is running. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal tank 2 is installed with electromagnetic coils 4 contained in heat resistant housing 5 such as ceramic, from the top near the surface of molten metal tank 2. When the coils 4 are energized with multiple phase AC current, magnetic field in M direction induces movable magnetic field from the lower electrode coil to upper electrode coil. This causes magnetic field in F direction to move. This action causes the molten metal 2 to move in f direction so that raised portion is formed on the surface of the bath. This elevated metal is made to contact the lower surface of steel strip 1 which is running, so that molten metal plating is performed. The contact area of the steel strip 1 and the molten metal 2 is curved by the positioning roller 3 depression, and oxidation-preventive gas is jetted from the nozzles 6. Both means prevent excessive bath rise, so that the top surface of the steel strip 1 is protected from being plated with penetrated molten metal.
