Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain durable rust preventive property to steel material using simple formation of stainless steel film on the surface by rapidly passing clean surface steel material into molten stainless steel bath. CONSTITUTION:Stainless steel is melted and is maintained in a container. Meanwhile, strip or belt steel is treated to remove surface oxide, then with treating agent such as phosphoric acid or zinc chloride based agent, and is passed through the molten stainless steel at a temperature at which the steel material is not dissolved. Because the temperature of molten stainless steel is close to the melting point of the steel material, the steel surface partly melts, and forms alloy layer with stainless steel, and thus provides peel-free, rust-preventive, stainless steel-clad layer. In this manner, corrosion and oxidation resistant layer is simply formed on the steel material surface, without needing complicated coating or plating treatment.
