Abstract
PURPOSE: To elongate the time of repeated use for a stem-head of valves in order to prevent a local concentration of stress by creating a flat portion in the center of the bottom of the stem-head, by installing a curved surface with an almost same degree of curvature as that of the diaphragm dome, and furthermore by creating a conical surface along the periphery.
CONSTITUTION: The flat portion a is always strongly pressed by the diaphragm 5 by pressing down the valve rod 3, when the diaphragm 5 is pressed with the stem- head 4. With this process, the dome portion of the diaphragm 5 is curved by being pressed towards the opposite side of the swell and the curved portion of the dome first comes in contact with the flat part a and the curved part b of the stem-head. In the initial stage of pressing of the diaphragm, no large amount of internal stress is generated in the diaphragm 5. However, by further pressing of the stem-head, the dome portion of the diaphragm is deformed and comes in contact with the flat part a, curved part b and conical part c of the stem-head 4.
