Abstract

PURPOSE: To reproduce an excellent half tone without reference to the kind of a recording system by linearly varying recording density indicating each gradation to or from a threshold level.
CONSTITUTION: Counter 23 is cleared at the rise of a reset signal and put into counting operation by a reference signal. Its count content is supplied to decoder 22 and memory circuit 24 as a count signal showing terms of 20∼23. Decoder 22 selects an output terminal that the count signal assigns and then feeds power. Since resistances R2∼R9 have their values set depending upon recording density characteristics here, a desired threshold voltage level can be set. Then, the threshold voltage level varying sequentially from a higher voltage synchronizing with a reference clock signal is compared by comparator 21 with an input analog picture signal and only when the picture signal is higher, an output signal is held high in level to stop counter 23 from operating. Circuit 24 stores the count signal at the rise of a set cycle signal of the threshold level to output a level signal.
