Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a unit to serve as a transmitter-receiver and also to improve the reliability of the unit by using a solid-state light emitting element as a scanning device.
CONSTITUTION: With alternation switch 25 ON, a received signal from terminal 26 is applied to switches 23 closing in sequence to make them come on in sequence while light emitting intensity is modulated. This light emission spot is led to rotary drum 12 charged uniformly by electrifier 5 for exposure. The toner of the opposite- polarity charge is applied on residual charge at the unexposed part to form a visual image. Next, high-tension power supply 14 for transcription is driven to transcribe the image on recording paper 3, which is fixed by fixing unit 15. The remaining toner is cleaned out by rotary brush 16. In transmission mode, lignt emitting elements 20 are made to come on in sequence with switches 23 ON sequentially to light transmitted original 9 with the spot light and the reflected light is led to photoelectric converting element 27, so that a photoelectric conversion output varying through photoconduction effect will be extracted by load resistance 30 and outputted to output terminal 31. This operation is carried out over the entire surface.
