Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate benzene from a mixture of benzene, cyclohexene, and cyclohexane, by adsorbing benzene with an X-type aluminosilicate zeolite, and desorbing the adsorbed benzene easily from the adsorbent using a specific alkylbenzene as a desorbing agent.
CONSTITUTION: Benzene is adsorbed from a mixture of benzene, cyclohexene and cyclohexane, with an X-type aluminosilicate zeolite, and the adsorbed benzene is desorbed with a novel desorbing agent composed mainly of an alkylbenzene having a total carbon number of 7W10, and a number of alkyl groups of 1W3, e.g. toluene, ethylbenzene, propylbenzene, etc. The selective adsorption and the selective desorption are preferably carried out successively.
