Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare hexokinase capable of exhibiting a great activity at a high temperature, having improved storage stability, by incubating thermophilic bacteria belonging to the genus Thermus or Bacillus.
CONSTITUTION: Thermophilic bacteria or their variants, e.g. Thermus thermophillus ATCC27634 (FERM-P No.2988) or Bacillus MY101 (FERM-P No.4442), are incubated in a liquid medium containing ordinary nutrient sources at 40W85°C, preferably 60W80°C, to collect hexokinase from the culture or bacterium bodies.
