Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively capture and remove the scum on water surface by eccentrically rotating the cylindrical body of an elliptical section provided with an oblong hole part in its axial direction on the sludge water surface where scrum floats.
CONSTITUTION: A revolving shaft 8 is provided to the center of the circular precipitating vessel 1 of a sewage treatment plant and a sluge scraping plate 6 is provided in the lower part thereof and a bevel gear 17 to the upper part thereof. A bevel gear 16 is engaged with the bevel gear 17 and the eccentric shaft 14a of a cylindrical body 11 is mounted. The cylindrical body 11 is elliptical in section, has an oblong hole 21 in its axial direction and is provided with a scum discharge port 22 at one end. The sludge water having scum is flowed into the center well 15 of this device, and the shaft 8 is revolved. The sludge is collected to the bottom center by the scraping plate 6 and the scum floating on the water surface is scooped up by the revolution of the elliptical section cylindrical body 11, after which it is discharge through the discharge port 22 into a receiving trough 19. The cylindrical body 11 rotates about the eccentric shaft 14a and revolves about the shaft 8 over the entire water surface as mentioned above, thereby efficiently collecting and removing the entire part of the scum on the water surface.
