Abstract
PURPOSE: A beam member whereby the assembly work by welding a diaphragm to the beam member main body can be made efficient, stress concentration on specific members can be avoided, and the function of the diaphragm can be fully utilized.
CONSTITUTION: A box-like beam member main body 1 having a quadrilateral cross section is formed by welding each adjacent pair of four plates upper plate 2, side plates 3 and 4, and bottom plate 5. An L-shaped diaphragam 6 is formed of a main portion 7 and a flange 8 by folding one end of a rectangular plate. In the assembly of the main body 1, after the upper plate 2 is welded to the side plates 3 and 4 the diaphragm 6 is inserted therein with the flange 8 down, fillet welding is conducted at W and W', and then the bottom plate 5 is fitted thereto to complete the beam member. The diaphragm 6 is not welded to the bottom plate 5.
