Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce greatly the probability of misdecision by giving the comparison to the output of the converter which converted the signals sent from the mark via two different threshold levels.
CONSTITUTION: Optical signals 2aW2n sent from mark positions 1aW1n on read- out slip 1 are converted into the voltage signals via photoelectric conversion elements 3aW3n each to be then supplied to two systems of comparators 4aW plus 4a'W featuring different threshold levels each. Then each output is supplied to exclusive OR circuits 7aW, and these circuits compare the output between comparators 4aW and 4a'W. And in case no coincidence is obtained, decision unable output 8aW are delivered to be supplied to OR circuit 10. And in case even one of marks on slip 1 is unable for decision, circuit 10 delivers alarm signal 11 showing the incapability of decision. Thus the probability can be reduced greatly for the misdecision. The detection part can use the magnetic type in place of the optical type.
