Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a glass bulb free from the occurrence of glass pieces by glazing the open edge of a glass bulb separated from glass material to eliminate fine flaws in the edge and minute protrusions on the edge.
CONSTITUTION: Blow head 12 is detached upward, and by cutting the neck of glass bulb 13 with rotary knife 14, bulb 13 is separated from glass material 11 to form each glass bulb. Separated bulb 13 is carried to a glazing apparatus with a shoot conveyor. The apparatus is an endless rolling chain provided with many bulb holders 15, and each bulb 13 is moved with the heat supported by holders 15 and open edge 16 downward. A plurality of gas burners 17, 17 are arranged at both lower sides of a predetermined zone of the bulb conveying path of the apparatus, and edge 16 of moving bulb 13 is glazed by heating with burners 17, 17.
