Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish highly reliable control of the vehicle operation, by enabling to accelerate the vehicle through depression of an acceleration setting switch employed in place of the accelerator pedal, and changing the vehicle operation to the mode of constant-speed operation at the instant when the actual vehicle speed reaches a certain setting speed.
CONSTITUTION: A system for operating a vehicle at a constant speed, shown in the drawing, comprises a controller 20 for detecting the deviation between the actual vehicle speed and the first setting vehicle speed and producing a control signal for reducing the above deviation to zero, and a vacuum operated servo system for controlling the opening of a carburetor 3 on the basis of the output of said controller 20. The controller 20 consists of a section 30 for detecting the actual vehicle speed, a section 40 for storing the first setting vehicle speed, and an error amplifying and controlling section for affording the above-mentioned control signal to a servo valve 7. In such a system, there are further provided an acceleration setting switch SW(ACC), a circuit 61 for judging ON and OFF of the switch SW(ACC), a unit 62 for producing a voltage corresponding to the second setting vehicle speed, and a priority circuit 63. The priority circuit 63 produces an output by selecting the lower one of the output voltages of the detector 30 and an output unit 62.
