Abstract
PURPOSE: A coal-containing slurry composition that is produced by adding a compatible liquid or an alcohol containing an alcohol-soluble and hydrophilic substance to a high-viscoelasticity substance containing finely powdered coal, whereby dust is not formed when he coal is crushed and the calorie and NOx can be controlled.
CONSTITUTION: A coal is crushed and kneaded in a high-viscoelasticity substance such as asphalt or pitch using a kneader or Bandbury mixer. The resultant mixture is combined with a liquid compatible therewith or an alcohol containing an alcohol- soluble and hydrophilic substance or an alcohol-water mixture to give a coal slurry composition in which the alcohol is dispersed in some 0.1W5μ particles. As an alcohol-soluble and hydrophilic substance, is used an ethylene-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol terpolymer, partially saponified polyvinyl acetate or sugar ester. The alcohol in the alcohol-water mixture is preferably a water-soluble alcohol.
