Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance ink receptivity and printing resistance, and to eliminate ground staining, by adding 2-mercaptobenzoic acid and its substituted derivative to a processing solution for preparing a lithographic plate by the silver complex salt diffusion transfer method. CONSTITUTION:One or more of 2-mercaptobenzoic acid, its derivative, and their anions represented by the formula (A is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, acylamino, or NO2, and n is 0-4) are added to an alkaline solution for processing a lithographic plate by 0.1-100 millimoles/l. These compounds differs from the other mercapto compounds: they are odorless, and permits the printing resistance of the silver image obtained to be enhanced to a great extent.
