Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition giving a film having excellent scratch resistance and transparency, by compounding an organic solvent solution of a butyral resin, an alcohol dispersion of colloidal silica, and a curing catalyst comprising a sulfonic acid compound.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound containing (A) an organic solvent solution of a butyral resin, (B) an alcohol dispersion of colloidal silica, and (C) 0.5W 5wt%, based on the amount of all organic solids, of a curing catalyst shown by formula [R is H or 1W4C alkyl; (n) is 0 or 1]. The amounts of the butyral resin and the silica in the solid components of the composition are pref. 20W95wt% and 80W5wt%, respectively. The mixture thus obtained is pref. further incorporated with a crosslinking agent such as methylolmelamine resin.
