Abstract
PURPOSE:A friction material for an automobile, suitable to a lining a material in a drum brake, having improved abrasion resistance at a high temperature and low brake noise, and prepared by incorporating specific amounts of inorganic and organic fibers, a thermosetting resin, etc. CONSTITUTION:A friction material prepared by incorporating (A) 10-50wt% inorganic fiber and/or organic fiber, (B) 0-10wt% organic dust, (C) 0-30wt% lubricant, (D) 0.5-15wt% flame-retardant and (E) 5-20wt% thermosetting resin. Asbestos, glass, aluminosilicate, etc. are used as the inorganic fiber in the component (A), and phenolic, aromatic amine, carbon fibers, etc. are used as the organic fiber. Antimony trioxide is used as the component (D).
