Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a drying-resistant water ink which does not clog ink passages at rib paints even when the rib points of fountain pens, etc. are exposed for a long time, by blending 5,5'-dimethylhydantoin with an ink consisting of water, a water- soluble org. solvent and a water-soluble dye.
CONSTITUTION: 50W85wt% (based on the whole amount of ink compsn.) water (A), 1W40wt% water-soluble org. solvent (B) (e.g. ethylene glycol or propylene glycol), 0.5W15wt% water-soluble dye (C) (e.g. Aizen Eosine GH or Nigrosine NB Conc) and 0.5W20wt% 5,5'-dimethylhydantoin of the formula, are mixed together to obtain the desired water ink. The viscosity of this ink is not increased by the action of the component (D). The ink exhibits excellent fluidity, is highly hygroscopic and has low evaporation rate.
