Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure efficiently measurement values from photosensors via a couple of trnamitting and receiving optical fibers, by inputting light sigals, proportional to the measurement values from the photosensors, to the receiving optical fiber in time-division mode via optical shutters. CONSTITUTION:Light from light source 1 is inputted to transmitting optical fiber 2, branched by light branching devices 3 (3-1-3-3) connected to fiber 2 and then outputted to other branching devices and photosensors 4. Photosensors 4 (4-1-4-3) transmit light signals, having fluctuations of the quantity of light, frequency and wavelength in proportion to a process variable, to receiving optical fiber 6 via optical shutters 5 (5-1-5-3). To fiber 6, light branching devices 7 (7-1-7-3) similar to branching devices 3 are connected. Photodetector 8, connected to one end of fiber 6, measures the process variable by photodetection. In this case, shutters 5 are selected by shutter control part 9 and the excitation of coil 23 through the light-current conversion of phototransistor 21 provided at one end of optical fiber 20 constituting shutter 5 puts light shiedling body 24 into operation, providing switching operation.
