Abstract
PURPOSE:To transmit a signal in a string of pulses with simple constitution by interposing a Fabry-Perot resonator in a transmission-side optical path and by vibrating its reflective mirror at the vibration frequency that corresponds to physical quantity. CONSTITUTION:Light from light source 1, such as LED and a laser, is inputted to Fabry-Perot resonator 4 consisting of reflection mirrors 41 and 42 via optical fiber 11, transmitted to optical fiber 12 and photodetector 2, and then outputted via band-pass filter 3. Reflective mirror 42, coupling with electrostrictive element 51, vibrates with amplitude DELTAl corresponding to the physical quantity to be measured from electronic circuit 5. Setting the amplitude so that lambda<DELTAl<2<1/2>lambda where (lambda) is light wavelength maximizes the light output when l+DELTAl is greater than (lambda) by integer times where (l) is the interval between reflective mirrors 41 and 42, so the pulse-string signal that corresponds to the physical quantity is outputted from band-pass filter 12. Thus, the simple constitution provides signal transfer in a pulse string and prevents a noise from mixing.
