Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a steel sheet which is suited for blast furnace shells, etc. and is considerably improved of cracking resistance of the surface by providing an anticarburizing layer regulating the thickness of a surface layer contg. a specific ratio of Cu or Al. CONSTITUTION:A surface layer which contains >=20wt% either copper or Al, and, if necessary, contains a heat resistance improving component such as Ni, and of which the thickness is >=100mum is formed on the surface of a sheet steel. In the case of using this steel sheet for blast furnace shells, it is desirable to form this surface layer by a melt-spraying method, and an effective anticarburizing layer including the corners and side faces of openings is formed. As a result, carburizing is sufficiently prevented by the above-described anticarburizing layer, and the occurrence of cracking is prevented.
