Abstract

PURPOSE: To interrupt the creeping current through an exciting winding when a power controlling circuit such as a thyristor chopper or the like is at an abnormal condition as well as to enable to securely give an "OFF" position to an electromagnetic switch by a method wherein a rectifying element is connected in series to the exciting winding on the electromagnetic switch.
CONSTITUTION: When a direction switch 12 is closed to a forward-side fixed contact point (a), a transistor 15 is turned to "ON" position by a transistor driving circuit 16 and the electromagnetic switch 4 is turned to "ON" position. At the same time, a controlling circuit 17 transmits "ON" and "OFF" signals to the thyristor chopper 3 and drives an electric-vehicle-driving DC motor 2. When said thyristor chopper 3 fails to commutate, the transistor 15 is turned to "OFF" position. At this time, the creeping current which is going to run through a backup buzzer 18 is blocked by the diode 20 connected in series to the exciting winding 8, thereby the electromagnetic switch 4 to disconnect without fail.
