Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a solid battery of high energy-density, by using a solid electrolyte made of a compound which consists of lithium, iodine and nitrogen. CONSTITUTION:A solid battery is constituted by the combination of a negative electrode 5 made of lithium or its alloy, a solid electrolyte 6 made of a compound which consists of lithium, iodine and nitrogen, and a positive electrode 7 made of an oxide, a sulfide, a halide, a chalcogenide, a nitride or the like. The solid electrolyte 6 is prepared from either a compound which is made from lithium nitride and iodine, or a compound which is made from lithium iodide and lithium nitride, through vacuum vapordeposition, sputtering, ion plating or the like. Consequently, a solid battery of high energy-density can be obtained by using a new solid electrolyte.
