Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep sails at the optimal angle to the direction of wind, by coupling yards to a mast so that the yards can be horizontally turned and by enabling the motion of the yards with a sail swing driver.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of brackets extend horizontally from a mast 11. A sail support frame 15 is mounted on the brackets 12 so that the frame 15 can be horizontally swung. Hard sail panels 17 are fitted on the guide poles 13 of the sail support frame 15 so that the panels 17 can be vertically moved. Sails can be spread by moving up the panels 17. The sail support frame 15 can be swung around to the mast 11 by a sail swing driver 27 through gears 14a. The sails can thus be kept at the optimal angle to the direction of wind.
