Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to control immersion treating condition variously corresponding to a change of a plate thickness, in subjecting a thin plate like long metallic material to immersion treatment, by a method wherein plural treating tanks with a different length are arranged in series and number or position of the treatment tank to be utilized is changed. CONSTITUTION:The treating tanks 1, 2, 3 with a different length are arranged in series and connected mutually by connecting pipe 3, 5, 6 to coincide a height of a liquid level in the tanks. When the surface treatment is carried out by utilizing only the treating tank 1, the treating liquid is recirculated and supplied to the tank 1 by using a supply pipe 15 and a discharge pipe 9 and immersion rolls 12a, 12b are lowered to carry out the immersion treatment while the long metal 7 is guided in a bent condition. In other treating tanks 2, 3 the treating liquid is supplied but immersion rolls 13a, 13b and 14a, 14b are raised and the metal 7 is directly passed in a conveying condition or the treating liquid is withdrawn to empty said tanks. Thereby, contact length of the metal with the treating liquid can be changed variously by using only three kinds of tanks.
