Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled composite material fit for airtightly seal bonding an intergrated circuit device or other purpose and having a low coefft. of linear expansion, a low sealing temp. and superior waterproof by adding an inorg. insulator having a low coefft. of expansion to amorphous low m.p. glass.
CONSTITUTION: An inorg. insulator having a low coefft. of expansion such as molten quartz, β-eucryptite porcelain or "Vycor glass" of CORNING Co. is added to amorphous low m.p. glass consisting of, by weight, 81.6W83.2% PbO, 6.7W 11.6% B2O3, 1.1W6.2% ZnO, 1.6W3.2% SiO2, 0.5W2.1% Al2O3 and 1.6W4.2% Ge2O3 and having 105W120×10-7/°C coefft. of linear expansion and ≤360°C softening temp. The amount of said insulator added is ≤48%. Thus, a composite material for airtight seal bonding is formed.
