Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect rotational frequency at a low cost, by using a magnetic current converter such as a search coil or a Hall element to detect magnetic flux due to a current flowing through the end ring of a rotor. CONSTITUTION:Since a secondary current flows in a rotor bar 1 and is short-circuited by an end ring 2, the direction of the current in the end ring is vertical. Magnetic flux due to the current in the end ring extends as shown by dotted lines 5 in the figure. A magnetic current converter 6 such as a search coil or a Hall element is placed perpendicularly to the magnetic flux 5. The current flowing in the end ring varies depending on rotational frequency and the magnetic flux 5 varies depending on the current. As a result, a voltage induced across the output terminals 7, 8 of the converter 6 changes depending on the rotation of a rotor so that the rotational frequency of an electric motor can be detected. The rotational frequency dependent on the powr supplied state and loaded state of the motor can be detected from the output signal across the terminals 7, 8.
