Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure length precisely by detecting length measuring errors caused by velocity fluctuation, tension fluctuation and temperature changes.
CONSTITUTION: Each time a main magnetic mark detector 18 detects a magnetic mark on wire 1, a length measuring counter in a microprocessor 20 counts it, and if the counted value reaches a length to be measured ordered from a keyboard, a stop instruction is outputted from the microprocessor 20 to a feeder 12 and a winder 14 and the running of the wire 1 is stopped. While measuring, the microprocessor 20 stores measuring errors owing to velocity deviations from a standard velocity from the keyboard 56, measuring errors owing to tension deviations from a standard tension and expansion errors owing to temperature deviations from a standard temperature. The measuring errors owing to velocity, tension, temperature, etc., are displayed on a display device 58. After adding the total of the measuring errors, a visual mark is put manually or automatically.
